Fishery news:
The Yew tree reservoir is still out of sorts and is still failing to produce silver fish, we are awaiting the E/A to carry out a survey here and hopefully this will shed some light the problems here.
The lower pound is producing one or two pike to both live and dead baits, mainly jacks but there are much bigger to be caught here, this section is producing some good winter catches of silver fish with carp to 12lbs.
The Upper pound the fish seem to have shoaled up for the winter and most of them are around the lower peg numbers just out of the lock hole, this section has produced some nice perch over the 2lbs barrier and some quality roach and Ide’s.
Haydock Park Farms Cow Hay Dam keeps producing good sport with big roach and bream and good hybrids, with perch and rudd.
The Lagoon seems to have slowed at the moment but it will come back with good silver fish sport.
The heavy rains should have now flushed the rivers through, so the River Dane at Ravenscroft, is worth a try for Barbel, chub, dace, roach and grayling.
The Sankey brook is on our doorstep and should not be ruled out for a quick visit to try your hand at a bit of local river fishing, it has produced some nice chub to over 3lbs with dace and some nice roach to over the pound to bronze maggot or caster.

There is a lot of work to do on White Door fisheries we have decided to call them Beech pool and Oak pool, they will not be available for fishing for some time yet as pegs need to be made and fallen trees need to be moved, prior to opening it for fishing, and some stock put in.
The Sankey canal is a bit patchy at the moment the Vulcan reservoir is fishing quite well as is Haydock park farm for the time of year.

Fishery News:
The Yew Tree Reservoir, A fishery survey was carried out by the Environment Agency Fisheries team on Monday 28th January, the overall outcome was very good with good quality fish stocks netted, with a good year range cycle across the species of fish.
The general consensus from members of the E/A, was that many of the anglers using this water need education when it comes to feeding and the amount of feed to use, it was felt that overfeeding high protein groundbait and heavy use of particle feeds and pellets in spods etc is a major contribution as to why the fish are not feeding on this water, so please read the interim temporary ruling on the notice board before starting to fish on this water, we all need to play our part, regardless of if you fish for carp or silver fish, responsible angling is required here to maintain the standard of sport this water has produced over the past years.
